A quick administrative note. For people reading this blog via RSS readers, there’ve been problems with LaTeX equations for a couple of months. I’ve set up a local tex server and tweak the configurations. Hopefully, now everyone will be able to see the math stuff.
As a test, . If you still get an error box instead of an equation, please drop me an email.
I can verify that I see the equation now where I previously only saw the error box.
That worked in my RSS reader (Google Reader). Hopefully it’s fine now.
Looks like a fucken equation to me! Does pi really equal thatte?
Yup.
Yes, this is known as “Leibniz’s series” although the actual discovery dates to a few centuries before. Unfortunately, as pretty as the series is, it converges much too slowly to be usable for actually calculating digits of Pi.
Same here. I used to get only errors but now I see a infinite series that represents pi.
Thanks, Mark!
Works in my RSS reader, Google Reader! Thanks Mark, and thanks for this wonderful blog!
